What it is

4040.notes is a simple local notes app for writing in Markdown.

It is meant for quick drafts, private notes, lists, thoughts, and small writing that you want to keep lightweight.

How notes work

Create a note, write in plain Markdown, and it saves automatically as you type.
Notes use .md filenames, so they stay close to real Markdown files instead of becoming a complicated document format.
You can organize notes in a small tree, collapse sections, rename files, delete notes, and export any note as a .md file whenever you want.

Where notes stay

Your notes stay in your browser on this device. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no publishing.

Your notes are saved using your browser's local storage. Closing the tab, closing the browser, or restarting your computer will not wipe them.

They stay there until you clear this site's browser data, reset your browser storage, use a private/incognito window that deletes data when closed, or switch to a different browser or device.
